Mini Excavator Work

Small-Job & Tight-Access Excavation in Edison

Edison Excavation takes on the digs other companies pass on: fenced backyards, narrow side yards, and small jobs that don't make sense for a big crew. A tracked mini skid steer rolls through a standard 36-inch gate, and a 2.5-ton mini excavator works spaces a full-size machine can't get near. Real machines, sized to where the work actually is.

Getting in without the damage

Getting in without the damage

On these jobs, access is the main challenge. The route in gets planned before any dirt moves.

In Through the Gate

The tracked mini skid steer needs about 36 inches of clear width, so most backyard gates work without removing a fence panel. The 2.5-ton mini excavator follows wherever the opening allows.

Mats Along the Route

Ground protection mats go down along the travel path so tracks never sit directly on turf. The route in and out is planned as carefully as the dig, and the lawn is still a lawn afterward.

Compact Machine, Complete Job

Stump pits, trench runs, small footings, and spoil hauled out in compact loads. With laser grade control, a mini excavator holds the same line and depth as a large one. It simply fits where the work is.

Built for the jobs others skip

Many excavation companies are organized around large equipment, and a dig behind a fenced yard in Clara Barton or Menlo Park isn't worth hauling it over for. Homeowners end up with no callback, or a price meant to make the job go away. Our setup runs the other way: the small machines are the main tools, not the backup.

  • Where we work

Small access doesn't limit the work, though. When the gate allows, we bring in the 5-ton excavator, or park the 7-yard dump truck at the curb and shuttle spoil out with the skid steer. Every dig begins with an NJ One Call (811) utility markout before any track touches the ground.

What happens after you call

From the site walk to the final cleanup

  1. 1. Site Walk

We visit the property by appointment, check access and any constraints, and go over your plans or what you have in mind.

  2. 2. Marking & Layout

The layout is set on the ground with laser accuracy. Depths, lines, and elevations are marked before any digging starts.

  3. 3. The Work

The right machine for the access comes in, ground protection goes down where needed, and disturbance to lawns, trees, and hardscape is kept to a minimum.

  4. 4. Clean Handover

You're left with a site ready for the next step and a yard that's still in one piece.

Frequently Asked Questions

Likely not. Small jobs are the core of this work, not a favor. A single stump pit, a short trench, a shed pad: if it needs a machine and fits through your gate, it's worth a site walk.

Have a backyard job no one will call back about? We will.

Site visits are by appointment. Share a few details about the project and a time gets set to walk the property together.
