Pool Removal & Fill-In in Edison, NJ

Edison Excavation takes out inground pools around Edison, either as a partial fill-in that leaves the broken lower shell in place or a full removal that hauls out all of the concrete, liner, and steel. In both cases the hole is backfilled with clean fill in compacted lifts and graded back to lawn you can plant or build on.

Partial or full: two approaches

Partial or full: two approaches

The right choice depends on your plans for the yard and on what your township requires.

Partial Fill-In

The upper walls are removed, the floor is broken so water can drain, and the rubble stays at the bottom beneath clean fill compacted in lifts. It's the lower-cost option and works well for lawn or garden.

Full Removal

All of the shell, liner, steel, and decking is broken out and hauled off before backfilling. It costs more, but leaves clean ground if you may build an addition, garage, or new pool there later.

Decking, Equipment & Final Grade

Surrounding concrete or paver decking and the equipment pad come out too, and the final grade pitches away from the house. Topsoil goes on top, ready for seed or sod.

How we keep a filled pool from sinking

A filled pool that settles later was almost always filled all at once: loose fill dumped in and a machine driven across the top. Water ponds on the intact floor, the fill softens, and the lawn drops. We break the floor for drainage, place clean fill in layers, and compact each layer before adding the next.

  • Where we work

A typical inground pool needs 60 to 90 truckloads' worth of fill, so access is the main planning issue. We check the path from the street to the pool, protect the lawn and driveway along it, and request the NJ One Call 811 markout before any digging.

  • What we protect

The pool's electrical and gas lines are disconnected and capped by your licensed electrician or plumber before we begin, so nothing live ends up under the new lawn.

Pool removal pricing

Typical New Jersey ranges, for budgeting only: a partial fill-in usually runs $4,000 to $8,000 and a full removal $4,000 to $16,000. Most of the cost is material and trucking: clean fill coming in, broken concrete and decking going out.

Size and depth set how much fill is needed, and access sets how quickly it goes in. A pool trucks can reach down a driveway is a different job from one behind the house through a side yard. We count the loads during a site walk and put one firm number in writing.

What happens after you call

From the site walk to the final cleanup

  1. 1. Site Walk

We visit the property by appointment, check access and any constraints, and go over your plans or what you have in mind.

  2. 2. Marking & Layout

The layout is set on the ground with laser accuracy. Depths, lines, and elevations are marked before any digging starts.

  3. 3. The Work

The right machine for the access comes in, ground protection goes down where needed, and disturbance to lawns, trees, and hardscape is kept to a minimum.

  4. 4. Clean Handover

You're left with a site ready for the next step and a yard that's still in one piece.

Frequently Asked Questions

As a New Jersey market range, not a quote: partial fill-ins often run $4,000 to $8,000, and full removals $4,000 to $16,000. Pool size, how much concrete and decking comes out, the fill trucked in, and machine access determine where yours falls. We give a firm written price after a site visit.
