Gravel Pads

Gravel Shed Pads & Base Installation in Edison

Edison Excavation builds compacted gravel bases for sheds, small barns, hot tubs, and boat or RV parking. Topsoil comes off, geotextile goes down, crusher run is compacted in lifts, and clean stone finishes the top, leveled to whatever tolerance your shed company specifies.

How each pad is built

How each pad is built

A shed sitting on grass traps moisture under the skids, rots from below, and settles until the doors stick. A real pad solves all three.

Compacted in Lifts

Topsoil is stripped, geotextile fabric goes down, crusher run is compacted in lifts, and clean 3/4-inch stone goes on top. The pad drains and stays put.

Leveled to Spec

Laser grade control makes the surface flat and level to the shed company's tolerance. Timber-framed pads are available if you want a contained, finished edge.

Timed to Delivery Day

Shed already ordered? We work back from the delivery date so the pad is finished, compacted, and ready when the truck pulls up.

Not just for sheds

The same build works anywhere you need firm, well-drained ground: a small barn, a hot tub pad, or a gravel extension for the boat or RV that's been parked on the lawn. We size the pad beyond the structure's footprint so the drip line falls on stone, not mud.

  • Where we work

Two scope notes. If the structure needs a concrete slab or footings, that falls under our foundation excavation service. And if an old shed has to go first, see our demolition page. This service is the gravel.

What happens after you call

From the site walk to the final cleanup

  1. 1. Site Walk

We visit the property by appointment, check access and any constraints, and go over your plans or what you have in mind.

  2. 2. Marking & Layout

The layout is set on the ground with laser accuracy. Depths, lines, and elevations are marked before any digging starts.

  3. 3. The Work

The right machine for the access comes in, ground protection goes down where needed, and disturbance to lawns, trees, and hardscape is kept to a minimum.

  4. 4. Clean Handover

You're left with a site ready for the next step and a yard that's still in one piece.

Frequently Asked Questions

The common rule is at least a foot past the shed on every side, so roof runoff drips onto stone instead of splashing mud onto the siding. Your shed company may specify something different, and we build to their sheet when they provide one.
